Daily Inspiration, for 30 December 2021

When faced with a problem or situation, many of us anticipate or focus on the worst. We can fail, the other party can will say no, the deal will not go through, etc. But even if the odds are slim, there is a chance we can also succeed, or the other party will say yes, or the deal will go through without incident.

Today’s quote by Beninese singer actress and activist Angélique Kidjo seeks to remind us to stay positive and not fixate only on negative outcomes.

The quote can also be interpreted another way: to highlight the principle of redemption or second chances. Even if you don’t succeed at first, thereafter you can succeed. But it does require us to be tenacious and to be brave.

Inventors are usually versed in failure. Through trial and error numerous times they have been able to develop and perfect products that we take for granted. For example to perfect the Dyson vacuum cleaner, it took Sir John Dyson 15 years and 5,127 attempts or failures before he got the prototype right. That should certainly put our attempts and the trials in our life into perspective.

Best wishes, and have a great day!
