Daily Inspiration, for 11 January 2022

by | Jan 11, 2022 | Inspiration

Although this quote appears to be geared towards men, it reflects the male-dominated society at the time when Mahatma Gandhi lived. The sentiment is also equally applicable to women, as we are reminded that our thoughts drive our actions and shape who we are.

It is also useful to consider the instances when we are baffled by our own actions. We may have reacted to a situation in one way or manner that would have been considered ‘out of character’, based on who we believe ourselves to be. But there’s always an underlying cause: underlying thoughts and feelings. However, when these thoughts are filtered through our own perceptions of who we are, and/or the expectations of our circle, a disconnect between our thoughts and actions may result.

The desired goal is full alignment of our thoughts and actions, and consequently, our thoughts and who we are.

Throughout the day, we invite you to revisit this quote. Below are a few questions you may wish to ask yourself, and those who journal may find them especially useful:

  • Are my thoughts and actions fully aligned?
  • Can I really recall a situation in which my thoughts or how I believed I would act was different from what I did in fact?
  • Based on my thoughts, who do I think I am?

Best wishes, and have a great day!
