The world is often such a complex and daunting place to navigate, and so it is very tempting to follow a well-established path, or to follow in the footsteps of others. This approach becomes more tempting the older we get, because the cost of failure may be quite high.

However, there are no guarantees that in following the path of others that you will have an exact blueprint of their experiences. Even in those situations, your experiences will be different, and also most likely with different consequences or outcomes. Furthermore, there is the chance that in following someone else’s footsteps, you may be limiting yourself and the experiences you could be having.

And so, to be free to blaze our own trail, you have to get off the beaten track.
