We are able to attest to the fact made in today’s quote because either of our own experience, or from the experience of women who are close to us.
For generations, women have been raised to believe that they are the weaker sex. They need to be watched over or protected by some male figure, namely fathers or brothers, who then hand us off to our husbands or sons.
However, and as the quote suggests, we may not fully appreciate our mettle, or how strong we truly are, unless or until we have been placed in a difficult situation – where our backs are against the wall. When left to our own devices, we are strong, resourceful and innovative, with the ability to thrive on our own.
Throughout the day, we invite you to revisit this quote. Below are a few questions you may wish to ask yourself, and those who journal may find them especially useful:
- Can I recall experiences where under difficult circumstances I was resilient and was able to thrive on my own?
- What did I learn about myself by overcoming that challenging situation?
- Were there skills, abilities, characteristics or traits that I didn’t know I had that I was able to draw on to overcome that challenging situation?
Best wishes, and have a great day!
