This is a quote that so many of us can relate to, having had the lessons of experience. Sometimes, and in challenging situations, the prevailing feeling is to hold on, and to endure, as in our culture, the underdog – who overcomes hardships and prevails – is lauded. Further, there is also the sentiment that those who suffer will eventually be rewarded… if only they hang in there.
However, holding on to particularly difficult situations can also indicate that we are afraid of the unknown. For example, we are afraid of who we are, or who we will become outside of that situation. Or, we are afraid of the hardships we might experience and whether we will be able to thrive, outside of that situation.
However, the ability to have those fears and concerns yet still walk through them and into the unknown, is a sign of strength, and of courage. Sometimes, you just have to choose yourself and let go of a bad situation.
Throughout the day, we invite you to revisit this quote. Below are a few questions you may wish to ask yourself, and those who journal may find them especially useful:
- Am I holding on to situation that I should let go?
- Why am I holding on to that situation? What am I afraid of?
- How might I be able to better prepare myself to let that situation go?
Best wishes, and have a great day!
