One of the greatest lessons that one tends to learn in becoming an adult, is self-responsibility: that you are fully responsible for your life. It may not be a lesson that you fully absorb at 18, or at 21, when in the eyes of the law, and the world, you are an adult, but hopefully, by your mid-to-late twenties – when you may actually begin to feel like an adult – you would have taken this learning to heart.

It thus when you truly know within yourself that ‘the buck stops with you”, in all things, that you begin to realise how much control you have of yourself, and the experiences in your life. It also means that you are also in control of your attitude and how you approach situations and challenges. And so, in keeping with today’s quote, the ability (or mindset) to triumph in a situation always begins with you.

To some, self-responsibility can be intimidating, as it suggests that you cannot blame anyone else when things don’t go the way you had hoped. But for those who are brave enough, self-responsibility can be empowering. It doesn’t matter who you are, or where you come from, because within you, you have the makings of what it takes to triumph!
