All too often, we can find ourselves constantly measuring our effort to see whether we have achieved a particular goal. However, as the saying goes, “A watched pot never boils.”
If we are constantly watching and tracking what were are doing, or comparing ourselves or our progress to others, essentially, we are not applying ourselves fully to the task at hand, and so are diluting our effort. Fully committing to doing the work, and not allowing ourselves to be (unduly) distracted – is the key to success.
You are more likely to get in sync with the work, which can result in being more efficient, making connections that you would not otherwise have made if you were working superficially, and so be in a position to achieve or even exceed the goals you had envisaged. However, it is critical to focus and apply yourself fully and not be unduly preoccupied with the outcome you desire. If you do the work, success will most likely follow.
Best wishes and have a great day!
