Humans are social beings who live as part of a community. Therefore, it is quite natural for us to be concerned about the way in which we are regarded by the members of our group, and to seek the approval support and respect of our group, who are there to applaud our successes and console us in our disappointments.

However, it is important to remember that you have your own, unique path to take in life, and the choices that you may need to make will not be met with the unanimous approval of your group all of the time. There will situations in which you may need to make a choice that is best for you, and no one else.

To that end, it is unwise to constantly seek external validation. It takes practice to become comfortable with making your own decisions and developing the fortitude to stand by your choice, regardless of what those critical of your actions may think. Each person needs to find their own path to a fulfilling life.
