Daily Inspiration, for 11 October 2022

The saying, “Youth is wasted on the young”, is indeed true. When you are young and energetic, you are brash, think you know everything and take a lot for granted – even the fact that we were young and full of energy.

However, as time passes, naivete gives way to disappointment and experience, and physically, we start to slow down, feel our age and begin to come to terms with our mortality. These changes are not easy, but they are inevitable and necessary. The question is how do we process these inevitable and necessary changes to move forward?

Invariably, we know people who are getting into middle age but are still acting as if they are teenagers, or in some way seem to be trying too hard to hold on to their youth. But there is beauty in recognising the fragility of life and your own mortality, in order to live each day with grace and appreciation.

Throughout the day, we invite you to revisit this quote. Below are a few questions you may wish to ask yourself, and those who journal may find them especially useful:

  • How much have I changed from my younger days to now?
  • In what ways do I recognise the fragility of life?
  • In what ways do I give thanks for today?

Best wishes and have a great day!!
