Do you remember your first attempt to walk in high-heeled shoes?
That was certainly a move outside your comfort zone, but you tried and tried when you got your first pair to master that feat. Now you slip in and out of your shoes without a second thought.
As we get older, we become more self-conscious and are afraid to appear clumsy or awkward, so we remain within our comfort zone. There is also the matter of ego and the fear of feeling ’less than’ even if those around us do not perceive us that way. But by not being prepared to be uncomfortable and feeling out of our depth at times, we limit the opportunities for us to grow and the experiences we can enjoy, and our world becomes smaller.
On this journey to growth, we need to be okay with being uncomfortable and embrace the awkwardness and the fact that we might indeed be fumbling our way through new and different experiences.
Best wishes and have a great day!!
