Daily Inspiration, for 9 November 2022

Have you ever encountered someone who say one thing, but then acted completely differently from what they had initially said? Sometimes, it may be relatively innocent situations that don’t affect you directly, but in other circumstances, you may have relied on what they said, only to feel confused, or even betrayed, when they eventually acted.

To be fair, people have the freedom to choose how to act under any circumstances, but there is also something to be said about knowing yourself and being self-aware. Unfortunately, many of us are not aware of the disconnect between how we would like others to see us, and how we, in fact, act.

As intelligent people, we are conscious of the image we would like to project our ourselves: honest, fair, generous, hard-working, kind, mature, open-minded, etc. However, when the rubber hits the road, we might be none of these things – at least to the degree that we would like others to think.

Ultimately, we may need to come to terms with that dishonesty, and the fact that we have a lot of work to do to truly master ourselves: to be really comfortable with who we are, and between who we think or say we are, and how that is reflected in the world.

Best wishes and have a great day!!
