Daily Inspiration, for 2 December 2022

We women can be our own worst enemies. We can be very suspicious of each other, throw catty remarks and feel as if we are in competition with every other woman. As a result, we can take pride in shaming another woman or in highlighting her mistakes, failings or inadequacies.

However, this seemingly innate hostility that women can have towards each other, where we are quick to undermine each other, does us all a disservice. We, women, face numerous challenges from the patriarchy, such as lingering inequality at home, work and in society at large. Women really should not be fighting each other, as it is not only a distraction but also causes us not to focus on the bigger fight (against the patriarchy) of which we are a part.

Throughout the day, we invite you to revisit this quote. Below are a few questions you may wish to ask yourself, and those who journal may find them especially useful:

  • How suspicious am I of other women generally?
  • How suspicious am I of other women who are part of my circle or whom I consider friends?
  • If another woman has made a mistake or is demonstrating some inadequacy, how do I handle such a situation?

Best wishes and have a great day!!
