This inspirational quote might seem like a no-brainer, but do take a second look. Are you really living your life intentionally? Are you consciously and conscientiously making all decisions? The likely truth is that most of the time, we live on autopilot and perhaps only make decisions for the big-ticket issues of our lives.
In living intentionally, we ought to want our lives to be the best reflection of who we are, and who we want to be. Further, we recognise and acknowledge that life is made up of decisions ranging from the major life-changing ones, such as, “Should I change jobs? Should I marry him or her? Should I have a child?”, to small ones, “Should I hit the snooze button? Can I skip the gym today?”, to name just a few.
Throughout the course of every day, we may not even realise that we make several small decisions, which in turn have an impact on how our lives unfold – albeit in small ways in the majority of instances. Nevertheless, large or small, the decisions we make consciously, unconsciously, and even by omission, that is by actively not making a decision, all contribute to who we are and our life experiences.
In the grand scheme of things, there may not be a right or wrong answer for the choices we make. What is important are the consequences that flow from those decisions. Seemingly small and inconsequential decisions, such as leaving home a bit later than usual, or choosing to take an obscure class just to achieve the needed credits to graduate, can have a ripple effect, and can result in us not having any idea how we got to where we are.
So, in revisiting our contemplation seed for today, we invite you to consider the following:
- Are you really living your life intentionally?
- Are you consciously and conscientiously making all decisions?
- Are the choices you are making a reflection of who you are and who you would like to be?
Best wishes and have a great day!
