If there is anything that we have been advocating for here on Journey To Growth is self-love. We, and women in particular, can all be too harsh on ourselves. We are kinder and more compassionate to others, and are not the same with ourselves.
Sadly, much of that behaviour was developed in our childhood and how we were socialised. As a result, and to some degree, girls tend to be less confident and less sure of themselves, and are quick to second-guess themselves – even when it is not warranted.
This deep-seated behaviour is difficult to change. It takes concerted effort and self-awareness, in order to begin to break that habit, and replace it with the type of love, compassion and grace that we show to others.
Throughout the day, we invite you to revisit this quote. Below are a few questions you may wish to ask yourself, and those who journal may find them especially useful:
- When I make a mistake, how do I respond to myself?
- To what degree and I quick to shaming myself, even inf front of others?
- How quick am I to second-guess myself, even when there is no strong opposition of others?
Best wishes and have a great day!
