Welcome to our first inspirational quote, and we think it is so apt for a Community such as ours!
I am sure we all can agree that life is tough! Keeping a roof over our head, putting food on the table, taking care of loved ones, is almost a full-time job – in addition to all of the other responsibilities and commitments we already have! We are just trying to keep our footing in the rat race of life.
However, what this quote attributed to the Austrian poet and novelist, Rainer Maria Rilke, seeks to remind us, is that as much as we are focussing on the outer – food, clothing, shelter, professional achievements, living the good life, etc. – we ought to be putting considerably more attention and effort on our inner growth and development.
By no means should we not ensure that we are living comfortably. But all too often, in trying to keep up with our peers, or meet our family’s or our own expectations of the type of life we should have, we lose sight of the bigger battle that is raging, which includes self-love and contentment, and being truly aligned with the divine in you.
Throughout the day, we hope you revisit this quote. Below are a few questions you may wish to ask yourself, and those who journal may find them especially useful:
- How much am I focussing on my inner journey?
- In what ways am I trying to develop and nurture the relationship that I have with myself?
- How well do I know myself?
- What are some of the things that I know for sure about my inner self?
With best wishes,
Michele
