This quote seems to be an endorsement of what we hope to achieve here at J2G: to help women to become stronger, more capable, and better versions of themselves.
Having said this, we women have been conditioned to be selfless and to put others and their needs before our own. Further, if we are not careful, we get rundown, exhausted and not in a position to replenish ourselves. In other words we are trying to pour from an empty cup.
In fact, the greatest gift we can give ourselves, and others around us, who depend on us, is to take care of ourselves. One of the cruel ironies of life is that although the people we have helped those we have been selfless for, may acknowledge our efforts, they are also likely to complain that we did not taken care of ourselves in the process! Essentially, that we didn’t value ourselves.
Throughout the day, we invite you to revisit this quote. Below are a few questions you may wish to ask yourself, and those who journal may find them especially useful:
- Am I taking care of myself enough?
- What message am I giving to those in my care about what I think of myself?
- What message am I giving others about how I want to be treated?
Best wishes, and have a great day!
