We all start from different places in life. Some among us would have had very modest beginnings, while others would have had a more privileged start, which would have resulted in different paths and trajectories. Although in today’s world, a person’s success is generally measured by their outer trappings, such as money, position and achievement, we ought to be mindful not to focus solely on those aspects.

Regardless of your start in life, your journey will be riddled with obstacles that are designed to challenge you and test your resolve. As a result, what you have achieved, based on the hand you have been dealt, is far more important than how your achievements compare with someone else’s. It is like comparing apples and oranges.

The obstacles that you have had to overcome are your badges of honour. Do not dismiss them. Instead, acknowledge them and the resilience and resolve you have shown to overcome.
