This proverb had me do a double take, but reminded me of the saying that we can have too much of a good thing.
We all tend to think of sunshine as a good thing. It warms our skin; it’s good for plants; it keeps seasonal depression at bay for those affected, in addition to all having a whole host of other benefits. It is integral to life on Earth. But what happens when all there is a sunshine? Problems begin to emerge. In a literal sense, there is the potential for skin cancer, plants die and dry up, people get little sleep, etc.
A life that is all sunshine, rainbows and unicorns all the time, is a life out of balance. It almost seems contradictory, but it is true. The beauty of life and that of living is best appreciated through the ebbs and flows, the highs and lows. So although we love the days of sunshine, when life is going well on all key fronts, the clouds, rain, and storms of life are also necessary keep our lives rich and interesting.
Throughout the day, we invite you to revisit this quote, as there is so much to be grateful for in life – even with its ups and downs.
Best wishes, and have a great day!
