It is likely that we know at least one person that was considered talented, brilliant or gifted, who somehow did not fulfil all of his/her potential and achieve the greatness everyone expected. Although there might be a myriad of reasons why these individuals did not ‘make it’, frequently, it boils down to them relying solely on their talent to get by.
Again, and on the other hand, we are likely to know people who were not especially talented or gifted, but hustled and outworked everyone else, and exceeded people’s initial expectations of what they could achieve. It is in this context that we are reminded that “Talent will only get you so far.”
To really achieve in this increasingly competitive world, requires effort. You cannot rest on your laurels, do the bare minimum and expect to realise the best or highest gains. You need to bring your A-game and show the world what you are made of.
Throughout the day, we invite you to revisit this quote. Below are a few questions you may wish to ask yourself, and those who journal may find them especially useful:
- How much am I prepared to hustle to achieve my goals?
- In what situations am I prepared to coast, and not hustle?
Best wishes and have a great day!
