We have come a long way in the world in acknowledging the value that exists in the experiences individuals have had. Progressive organisations have come to recognise the value of a diverse workforce and in having people of differing backgrounds and experiences, who in turn enrich the insights, views and conversations thus making them more inclusive.
Hence, as individuals (women and minorities in particular), we do not have to feel ashamed that our experiences are not widely shared by those around us, because there is value in the knowledge, we have acquired because of the life we have lived. We can act as a beacon of light for others who may feel that they are of little value because they are far outside the mainstream.
Each of us has our own unique story, which we ought to acknowledge. More importantly, we should not forget that we are the product of our experiences and that we have a unique perspective to contribute to the world!
Throughout the day, we invite you to revisit this quote. Below are a few questions you may wish to ask yourself, and those who journal may find them especially useful:
- What is my unique story?
- To what degree do I embrace the uniqueness of my past, who I am and who I am becoming?
- To what degree am I prepared to make myself known and heard?
Best wishes and have a great day!!
