Today’s quote is simple but incredibly profound.
Over the past two and half years, the word ‘resilience’ has become more relevant than ever as we figured out how to best navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. For example, businesses that had not leveraged the internet were now embracing remote work and online meetings. Children were also attending their classes remotely from home with their parents supervising.
The first few months of the pandemic were fraught with uncertainty. We didn’t know exactly what we were dealing with, how long the constraints would last and even how we might be able to have a meaningful existence under the circumstances.
However, in order to survive, and even thrive, you needed to let go of how you thought your lives should be. Instead, you needed to take advantage of the tools and resources available, in order to do the best that you could under the circumstances.
It is this same attitude that we need to continue to foster in order to become more resilient. Life throws us all kinds of curveballs that take us off the path we thought we were on. In being resilient, we are prepared to be more flexible as we try to continue moving forward.
Throughout the day, we invite you to revisit this quote. Below are a few questions you may wish to ask yourself, and those who journal may find them especially useful:
- How do I normally deal with uncertainty?
- Am I inflexible when a situation changes unexpectedly?
- How resilient do I think I am?
Best wishes and have a great day!
