Daily Inspiration, for 18 May 2022

To a considerable degree, you can be your greatest enemy. Like many, you may find that you focus on your flaws: what you don’t like about yourself, what you can’t do, and what you wish you could do better, instead of appreciating who you are and what you can do.

However sadly, being self-critical has become part of the conditioning that girls and women experience – and essentially, have been taught to do. Unlike boys, who are encouraged to be confident in themselves and their skills and abilities, and more importantly, are given opportunities to prove themselves, thus nurturing their own self-confidence, girls are not often offered similar opportunities. As a result, girls and women can be filled will self-doubt, and are overly critical of themselves.

To that end, the greatest gift a person can give themselves, is self-love and self-acceptance. You are enough. You are enough just the way you are.

Throughout the day, we invite you to revisit this quote. Below are a few questions you may wish to ask yourself, and those who journal may find them especially useful:

  • How much do I like myself?
  • To what degree am I critical about my skills and abilities?
  • To what degree do I focus on the negatives, or things I do not like about myself, instead of the positives?

Best wishes and have a great day!
