Daily Inspiration, for 18 November 2022

At some point or another, we have all given an excuse as to why we could not perform or deliver as expected. The reasons may be legitimate, but inherently it is a way of deflecting or redirecting the blame, and to some degree, it may absolve us of our failings or the failures that have occurred.

However, in truly owning up to your failings and failures – even if it is ignorance at the time – allows you to squarely face the situation at hand, as well as your role in the outcome, which can be a powerful impetus to learn from your mistakes and do better the next time. Pointing the finger elsewhere, and so absolving yourself, may not readily encourage you to learn from past experience, and thus, improve, grow and evolve.

Throughout the day, we invite you to revisit this quote. Below are a few questions you may wish to ask yourself, and those who journal may find them especially useful:

  • Do I make excuses when I have the outcome of a situation is not what I had hoped for or expected?
  • Do I make excuses for my actions or omissions, or for my failures or shortcomings?
  • To what degree am I responsible for myself; my thoughts, words and actions?

Best wishes and have a great day!!
