This is a very daunting statement because as humans we are social animals who rely on the input of others to navigate our daily lives, and to help keep us grounded. But to really succeed, we have to be prepared to leave the comfort of ‘the group’.
In order to do so, it is important to trust yourself and the decisions you make. No one else has walked in your shoes, nor possess your exact character, personality, values, attitude and perception of the world. In relying on others, when needing direction or help making a decision, means that you are prepared to be guided by people who are inherently limited by their own experience and perceptions.
Throughout the day, we invite you to revisit this quote. Below are a few questions you may wish to ask yourself, and those who journal may find them especially useful:
- How self-reliant am I?
- To what degree am I prepared to make my own decisions?
- How much do I need the help or input of others when making important life decisions?
Best wishes, and have a great day!
