There is the old adage that says, “To their own self be true”, but in so many ways, we are not encouraged to come to terms with our true selves, because we may become a threat to those around us, who are only comfortable if our actions are predictable. Thus, so many women underestimate their power to change their circumstances, and as a result, sell themselves short, and never achieve their true potential.
More often than we care to admit, we women tend to suffer from the need to please: the need to please everyone, but ourselves. However, when we do so too often (or more than we should), we may stop knowing fully who we are, what we want, and perhaps more importantly, what makes us happy.
However, if you have found yourself on that slippery slope, where you are not confident that you know what makes you tick, all is not lost. With time, effort and being intentional, you can find your way back to you, which is the source of your strength – as a person and as a woman.
Throughout the day, we invite you to revisit this quote. Below are a few questions you may wish to ask yourself, and those who journal may find them especially useful:
- Do I own who I am… unapologetically?
- Do I know what I want?
- How connected do I feel to myself?
Best wishes, and have a great day!
