Daily Inspiration, for 25 December 2021

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

What a lovely present to ourselves, and a wonderful reminder from journalist, writer, and filmmaker, Nora Ephron, who was known for the romantic comedies When Harry Met Sally… and Sleepless in Seattle.

We all know someone to whom life and misfortune always happens. They are always the victim, and portray themselves as being helpless in the situations in which they find themselves.

To a considerable degree, allowing ourselves to be the victim, and always seeing ourselves as a victim of somebody else’s actions is learnt behaviour. Moreover, it can suggest that we are not in control of our lives. But something to which we all aspire is self-determination: to be in charge of our lives and make our own decisions.

Throughout the day, we invite you to revisit this quote. Below are a few questions you may wish to ask yourself, and those who journal may find them especially useful:

  • Am I the heroine of my life?
  • To what degree do I see myself as a victim?
  • Am I someone who looks for someone else to blame when things go wrong in my life?
  • To what degree am I prepared to take full responsibility for my life, my actions and my inaction?

Best wishes, and have a great day!
