We have seen it in the workplace. The person, usually a woman, who is not confident in her skills and abilities. More often than not, she needs reassurance that she is doing a task correctly, and she will almost never take on something that she has not done before.
However, and in many instances, in the workplace as in life, we can put undue pressure on ourselves to have the answer to a problem or challenge all at once, or from the outset. However, often and thanks to past experiences and learnings, we have the tools to figure it out and so make a solid attempt.
Having said this and if you do not have confidence in yourself, life can become a self-fulfilling prophecy, and ultimately, you are likely to fail even before you start. More often than not, what you have to do is trust that although you don’t have all of the answers right now, you will you have what it takes to figure it out as you go along.
Throughout the day, we invite you to revisit this quote. Below are a few questions you may wish to ask yourself, and those who journal may find them especially useful:
- Am I prepared to act, even when I don’t have all of the answers to a situation?
- Do I trust myself to make the best decisions based on the circumstances as I understand them?
- Am I prepared to accept the consequences, when I act?
Best wishes, and have a great day!
