Have you ever noticed how at a family reunion each member of the group has a different recollection of a particular incident that they are trying to recreate and how the participants in the incident have varying reactions to what took place?

Some find it quite funny while others may still be upset. One individual may view the incident as an interesting experience and can laugh about it, while another person may be embarrassed by it and still mortified by the experience.

The same is true of life. Our reaction to any given situation or incident is shaped not by the incident itself, but by our past experiences and whether it was viewed in a positive or negative light.
