Monday is the start of a week and having had a break from our work lives on the weekend, we tend to see Monday as a time to reset or to return to the grind after a much-deserved break. 

There can also be a sense of wiping the slate clean on Mondays, and strategising for all the tasks we want to tackle in a week. in other words, Monday is a day to reset and to re-focus. Moreover, as today’s quote reminds us, we get to do so at least 52 times a year.

However, when many of us set goals or targets, we don’t build in regular reviews and assessments, to check our progress, whether the strategies we have been implementing are successful, whether we need to pivot, or even whether the goals we set are still relevant. If we would spend a few moments every Monday (or another day of the week for that matter) to consciously and intentionally check in with ourselves, and do so 52 times in a year, imagine how much further along we would be!

 

Throughout the day, we invite you to revisit this quote. Below are a few questions you may wish to ask yourself, and those who journal may find them especially useful:

  • Starting this Monday, what are three short-, medium- and long-term goals I would like to focus on going forward?
  • Starting this Monday, what do are the 3—5 key things I would like to focus on this week that will move me closer to my goals?
  • Starting this Monday, what key mini-goals I would like to achieve this week that will move me closer to my bigger goals?
