You may recall the saying, “the road to hell is paved with good intentions“, which reminds us that good intentions can go awry. However, today’s quote takes it further – to highlight the fact that there is a difference between ‘intention’ and ‘doing’.
The word ‘intention’ speaks to a plan or aim to achieve something. However, the execution to achieve that ‘something’ either has not begun, or has not yet been completed. In that vein, intention is similar to ‘potential’, which suggests incredible promise that has not yet been manifested.
The word ‘doing’, on the other hand, is an action word. And it is through the doing that we can achieve our goals and live our purpose. More importantly, we show ourselves, and others, who we are.
Throughout the day, we invite you to revisit this quote. Below are a few questions you may wish to ask yourself, and those who journal may find them especially useful:
- As the owner of my body and having a presence on this earth what are my intentions in this life?
- To what degree have I achieved, am I on the path to achieving, those intentions?
- What do my past actions say about me?
Best wishes, and have a great day!
