Can you truly be happy if what if your achievements are not aligned with your values?
It is likely that some of us might believe that it is possible, and perhaps are sure we know people who seemed to be happy, but it is not underpinned by values we believe they possess. However, the key pivot point of the question posed, is “truly be happy”. We can always convince ourselves that the end justify the means, and a much wanted achievement or outcome is justified and welcomed, regardless of how we arrive at it.
The human condition is such that you can convince yourself of almost anything, and can choose to suppress or disregard the discontent that may be niggling in your chest. Should that be the case, then you can never truly be happy, or achieve the state of consciousness called happiness.
Throughout the day, we invite you to revisit this quote. Below are a few questions you may wish to ask yourself, and those who journal may find them especially useful:
- Am I truly happy?
- Am I living in keeping with my values?
- Am I clear about what my values are?
Best wishes, and have a great day!
