If there is anyone who would fully understand this quote based on experience, it is Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex. We all are aware of the major moments of her life in recent years, and so could appreciate the strong sense of self she possesses, in order to navigate life within the royal family, along with the racist and elitist undercurrents that are still very prevalent in the United Kingdom.

If there is any major theme in today’s quote, is that of ‘choice’. The power of choice, and the fact that you, yes you, have the power to choose.

Often, people around us, and even we have said at one time or another, “I didn’t have a choice”, or “I had no choice”. But the truth is that you always have a choice. The options may not always be to your liking, so you choose the best one that works for you.

However, every choice – even when you choose not to act and go with the flow – has consequences. Consciously making a choice can be extremely empowering, as it allows you to live more intentionally, and hopefully more fully and truer to yourself.
