We are all aware of the extent to which our perceptions of people, things and situations are reflected in how we respond to them. We have all had experiences where we were completely off base on an issue. What we had perceived was completely different from the reality.
In the same vein, how we see our life is reflected not only in the experiences we have had, but also how we navigate through those experiences. It does not mean that if we are more inclined to see life in a positive light that it will only be rainbows and unicorns, so to speak. Instead, we may find that even though there are difficulties, we may be better able to handle them, and to juggle all of the different parts of our lives. If, on the other hand, we see life in a more negative light, in addition to the experiences life throws at us, our negative thoughts, perceptions and actions are likely to perpetuate, or even exacerbate, some of our experiences.
In summary, life is full of challenges, but how we move through the world, along with our actions, are all guided by how we view life.
Throughout the day, we invite you to revisit this quote. Below are a few questions you may wish to ask yourself, and those who journal may find them especially useful:
- How do I see life?
- Is my cup half full or half empty?
- Can I trace a situation in which my overall view of life was reflected in that experience?
Best wishes, and have a great day!
