‘Ability’ refers to the possession of the talent skill or proficiency to do something. This skill produces determined results on a consistent basis. ‘Presumption’, on the other hand, is behaviour that is perceived as arrogant, disrespectful and inappropriate, while ‘diffidence’ results from a lack of confidence, which makes the individual unassertive and bashful.

It is important that we invest in our talents to improve our skills and proficiency, as there is no substitute for hard work. Although there may have been some innate skill or talent, practise, commitment, hard work and tenacity are essential to develop that skill and to ensure that it can be consistently delivered or demonstrated when required

Ultimately, we ought to make our ability speak for itself.
