Daily Inspiration, for 3 November 2021

Today’s inspirational quote is simple but profound. Although it is easy to gloss over the quote, if we consider it carefully, it rings true, as so many of us wage a continuous battle with doubt in many areas of our lives. For example, we hesitate and question whether we should speak up at a meeting, or whether we should take a risk and embrace a new or exciting opportunity. With all of this hesitating and second-guessing of ourselves, time passes, circumstances change, and the window of opportunity we had disappears…

To a considerable degree, so many of us women are conditioned to be risk-averse. We have to be mindful of the circumstances in which we put ourselves. So for example, we very rarely accept car rides from strangers; we tend to go out partying with a group of friends; we don’t go to a party or fete when we have no idea how we will get home; and we are very careful about who we accept drinks from at a nightclub.

These skills and sensitivities have helped us avoid a lot of bumps and scrapes in life, but this hypervigilance may also have caused us to be very risk averse, and so not open to opportunities, or even having the courage to realise our own dreams!

However, with every day we are alive, there is the opportunity, and blessing, to change and grow.

During the course of today, and based on this quote, we invite you to consider the following:

  • Am I someone who is riddled with self-doubt?
  • Can I pinpoint any underlying reasons or sources for my doubts?
  • What are the dreams I would like to fulfil but fear or doubt is holding me back?
  • What exactly are those fears?
  • Are those fears valid?
  • Is there anything I can do to reduce those fears and move closer to my dreams?

Best wishes, and have a great day!
