Do not feel embarrassed to acknowledge your fears, because fear is a universal emotion experienced by everyone, which actually serves a vital role in keeping us safe. Its function is to enable us to avoid or minimise harm –depending on what we have learned in the past about what can protect us.
However, we can get in the habit of living our lives from the standpoint of self-preservation. We make choices and act in a way to keep ourselves safe at all costs. But in doing so, we also don’t allow ourselves to dream big. Instead, we narrow our horizons, and so we limit ourselves and the opportunities and experiences we will have.
To grow and develop our best selves, we need to push past our fears to explore our dreams and so achieve our fullest potential. This is the only way we will achieve true satisfaction in life.
Throughout the day, we invite you to revisit this quote. Below are a few questions you may wish to ask yourself, and those who journal may find them especially useful:
- What fears do I have that influence the decisions I make?
- What are the thoughts I have that might be hindering me from achieving my dreams?
- What changes (if any) could I make that would help me achieve my dreams?
Best wishes and have a great day!!
