Today quote might seem like a no-brainer: aren’t you your own best friend? However, the sad truth is that often, we tend to overlook ourselves, in order to seek approval and validation from others.
Essentially, we either dismiss our own thoughts and instincts on an issue, or we are not confident in those thoughts and instincts, and need someone else’s opinion before we act or draw a conclusion. Though there can be benefit in looking to your tribe for advice and guidance, it is crucial that you know yourself first, and understand what is in your best interest.
Even when your family, friends, confidantes have your best interest at heart, they are not walking in your shoes. Also, they are likely to be sharing insights and opinions that are aligned with their own values, truths and experiences – not yours.
You have to be your own advocate.
So again, do ask yourself, “To what degree am I truly my own best friend?”
Best wishes and have a great day!
