Daily Inspiration, for 30 November 2022

All women who end up in powerful leadership positions have to demonstrate extraordinary levels of resilience. They have to become accustomed to swimming against the tide, as their knowledge, intelligence and competence would have been questioned every step of the way.

But somewhere in their formative years, these women would have been convinced that their ability should not be questioned. As a result, they would have had confidence in who they are, and their skills and abilities, but perhaps more importantly, the grit and tenacity to persist in the face of opposition from many quarters.

Having said this, we cannot underestimate the importance of the messaging we give our young girls in shaping who they become. We need to socialize our girls to believe in themselves, as it can have far-reaching effects in shifting the balance of power in the world.

Throughout the day, we invite you to revisit this quote. Below are a few questions you may wish to ask yourself, and those who journal may find them especially useful:

  • How was I socialised?
  • Is there messaging from my childhood that has shaped how I move in the world today?
  • What messages am I sharing with young girls in my circle?

Best wishes and have a great day!!
