On life’s journey, we, as women, are constantly doing a cost-benefit analysis of our actions with respect to the various situations we encounter at work or in our personal lives. We sometimes encounter situations that are so detrimental to our very being that the only way we are able to survive is to walk away from everything.
In these situations, there is nothing to be gained from displaying your ability to ‘hang tough’, stay the course and maintain the status quo. We have been taught to persevere, and often there is a sense that we have invested too much to just walk away.
However, when we stay and hang tough, what we are actually doing is allowing ourselves to become desensitised to the abuse, disrespect and poor treatment of that situation, which no doubt would be a huge source of stress and adversely affect our self-esteem and self-confidence.
It takes greater courage to step away and chart your own course.
Best wishes and have a great day!!
