Today’s quote is from the movie, Dead Poets Society, in which Robin Williams’ character, John Keating, is a professor at an all-boys high school and challenges his students to make their lives “extraordinary!”
In the daily grind of today’s world, it is easy to fall into a routine that eventually results in days melding into each other without any distinction. To counteract that mundanity, it is important to make moments count: create experiences, memories or moments that will act as diamonds or milestones in our lives.
However, the process of creating extraordinary moments begins with our thoughts: the ideas we have and how we choose to express them in words. Thoughts and words are precursors to our actions: which is why the messages we tell ourselves, which in turn drive our actions, are so important.
Throughout the day, we invite you to revisit this quote. Below are a few questions you may wish to ask yourself, and those who journal may find them especially useful:
- In my own internal dialogue, can I express myself better or more clearly?
- If I review my dreams and goals and dreams, how might I express them more clearly?
- How might I make more moments in my life more memorable?
Best wishes and have a great day!!
