All too often, we expect an opportunity to drop in our laps without us having to do the work. However, rarely are we given an opportunity without there being a legacy of hard work and effort.

Sometimes, the opportunity may seem to come out of the blue, but it is intrinsically connected to our past work and effort. Also, it may emerge when we are deep in the trenches and might appear to be a natural consequence of all the work we have put in. However, it may only be in retrospect that we fully appreciate the full scope of the opportunity we had.

Finally, it is important to emphasise that in being given an opportunity, often, that is just the start. The hard work now begins to realise the potential of the opportunity, and of yourself – if you are brave enough grab it with both hands!
