There is a saying that the longest journey begins with a single step. Too often in our lives, we are defeated by procrastination: where we have missed golden opportunities through laziness, apathy, or fear.

Our delay in undertaking tasks that we think may be unpleasant or difficult has left us disappointed. Moreover, studies have shown that people regret more the things they haven’t done than the things they have done.

On the other hand, we can find ourselves stuck with no direction, and we choose to sit on the sidelines waiting for something to come along. However, as we wait – wait for an answer, wait for inspiration, wait till we know what we should be doing – life and time are moving ahead. To that end, there is merit in also moving and staying in the game, as life will more quickly show you what it has in store if you are prepared to meet it.

In other words, we are all haunted by missed opportunities. So, let’s just get up and do the thing we are avoiding, and stay active in the game of life!
