The process by which we begin to identify who we really are begins in childhood.
Based on your experiences, as well as the feedback you get from your parents, teachers and family members, you begin to identify your talents, your strengths and the things you value most in your life.
This process of trying to determine who you really are can be a challenge because you may discover things about yourself that do not conform to the person you, or the society around you, would like to be. But if you are able to accept your shortcomings or differences it can lead to greater self-awareness and self-acceptance.
Self-acceptance, in particular, is the most liberating feeling you can have as you no longer need to make excuses for who you are or look for validation from outside sources.
Throughout the day, we invite you to revisit this quote. Below are a few questions you may wish to ask yourself, and those who journal may find them especially useful:
- Do I know my value?
- Do I know what my talents are?
- Do I know my strengths?
- How comfortable am I being different from those around me or society’s expectations/
Best wishes and have a great day!!
