This is the time of year when we are making our New Year’s resolutions. As usual, the diets are in place and we have revived our gym membership, all in an effort to be healthier this year. But if we are asked to make a report on our progress in March, in many instances, we would see that the effort has stalled.
This is our usual pattern of behaviour for several years. Reflection is an important requirement for success in achieving our goals because reflective practice enables us to be more aware of ourselves, our knowledge and understanding, and our skills and competencies.
When we spend the time to examine our past efforts, we tend to think about why we did it in that particular manner and whether it was successful. We also may ask ourselves whether we could have done better and plan for any changes we can make in the future. It is said, “Experience is the greatest teacher”, but it will only teach us if we are prepared to attention, examine our actions and learn.
Best wishes and have a great day!!
