When you are dealing with a particularly challenging situation, it is easy to get caught up and incredibly invested in how it unfolds – especially when you are eager for a particular outcome. Also, when you are deep amid challenges, it can appear that there is no end in sight.

However, it is important to remember that almost everything in life is temporary. It comes for a season, and then disappears or morphs into something else.

In the same way, the wonderful and challenging experiences you have had, or are currently having, occur for a finite (and relatively small) period of time in the grand scheme of things. Hence, an individual experience is not your whole life – and neither is it your whole story.

This is an important perspective to remember, as we can allow one situation to define us completely. But we are more complex, more layered and more nuanced than that.

Moreover, there is almost always the opportunity for redemption, and to change, evolve and grow  – should we wish to do so.
